We visited the beautiful island of Mallorca in April, where we asked two of our Velominata ambassadors to put some kit to the test.
(L-R) Debbie Coyle, Emma Pickering
Debbie joined us for a ride before jetting back to the UK to start, what is sure to be, another knockout season of podium finishes and medals in time trialling and age group triathlon. She's starting 2019 on a high, having swum, biked and run her way to the title of European Triathlon Champion 2018.
We caught up with Emma while she was over in Mallorca preparing for one of the toughest endurance events on the sportive calendar, the Mallorca 312. Full time cycling maven, part-time doctor and sometime cycling tour guide, Emma knows a thing or two about riding a bike!
With the wind steadily blowing from the South and the smooth tarmac of the North calling our names, we hit the road with Debbie and Emma to put some outfits through their paces.
I prefer to size up rather than size down, it's how I feel most comfortable
I didn't need to size up or size down, both the jersey and bibs ran true to size. I felt comfortable all day and particularly liked how the mesh part of the bibs crosses over the tummy, holding you in.
On the whole, I prefer to size down for compression purposes.
I originally tried out a Medium sized jersey but found I was more comfortable in the Small size due to my chest-to-waist ratio. The Medium gilet hugged the body and all the fabrics were great quality. I was concerned that the bib shorts would be a little shorter on the leg than I normally wear, but I was really happy once I had them on!
