Picture this: I’m sat in a Spanish apartment by myself on season 3 of Luther. Things are getting a lot gorier than I signed up for; I’m watching the screen through my hands and it’s muted, it occurs to me that I should probably find a new series to watch because I am being a complete and utter melt. Re-watching Gossip Girl it is… or maybe I will venture out and watch something new – ‘step out of the comfort zone’ as they say. I come to the new realisation that I really need a new hobby. Ha.
The eager eyed of you will see that I mentioned I’m in Spain… I am on training camp at the moment. This brings me swiftly onto who I am and what I do. I am a full time cyclist!
So, a little about me. I’m Emily, 19 years old from Oxford. I currently live the dream as a full time rider just coming off of a full Cyclocross season with TP Racing and now preparing for a road season with Brother UK - Tifosi p/b OnForm. Yup, I ride a bike for a living. Pretty cool eh? Don’t worry if that’s hard for you to get your head around, most people can’t. ‘How long are you doing that for?’ and ‘So when are you going to Uni?’ are amongst the most common of questions. People love it most of the time because it’s so “exciting!” but my favourite response has to be the confused ‘Oooh’ accompanied by a raised eyebrow. I just smile and nod smugly – yes, I live the absolute dream.
Blogging has always been something I’ve toyed with. I just hadn’t ever got around to starting. When the opportunity to begin blogging for Velominata arose I knew it was time to bite the bullet. What an awesome opportunity to do something pretty damn cool.
My first blog, here goes nothing…
If you have any blog suggestions get in touch. My Instagram is @emily.wadsworth and I’d love to hear from you.
That’s enough from me for now. Stay tuned though. Hopefully I manage to piece something interesting together in the near future.
